Mixer Mate is a Microphone and Monitor Controller that allows popular “live music” audio mixers to be used in a broadcast environment. Mixer Mate adds three important functions to the mixer: (a) it provides convenient On/Off control of up to four microphones, (b) it mutes the Monitor audio when a microphone is in use, and (c) it provides control of On The Air studio warning lights.

Product Description

Mixer Mate utilizes the mixer’s Mic Processor Insert facility to switch microphone audio on or off. Up to four mics can be independently controlled via the unit’s front panel pushbuttons. An LED above each pushbutton indicates when each mic is on. Mixer Mate’s passive audio switching utilizes parallel-pole silver-plated contacts to ensure noise-free audio switching and maintain sonic integrity.

The mixer’s Monitor audio can be looped-through Mixer Mate so that Monitor audio can be muted when selected microphones are in use. Monitor muting is programmed using the Mute Select switches on the back of the unit; any microphone’s On/Off pushbutton can be programmed to automatically mute Monitor audio as needed.

Mixer Mate also provides a Mic Tally output to control On The Air warning lights via a Henry Engineering Superelay or other suitable light control interface. The Tally output is active when any microphone is on.

Mixer Mate requires 12 volts DC to operate. When used in with a Henry Engineering Superelay (for warning light control), the Superelay supplies this voltage. If Mixer Mate is not used with a Superelay, the included 12 volt DC power supply is used.

Mixer Mate is 1/3 rack width and can be rack-mounted with the optional
rack-mount shelf, or cabinet or wall mounted using optional cabinet/wall mounting brackets.
